What is the one thing most buyers
want from a real estate agent? Many
would answer that they want to
work with an agent who
"understands my needs." That can
be difficult for agents to deliver,
however, unless they are able to read
minds or consult a crystal ball.
Why? In order to understand buyers'
needs, those needs must first be
expressed. Many buyers do not want
to disclose their plans and objectives
for fear of compromising their
position in the negotiation for a
home. Openness, on the other hand,
can lead to a very rewarding home
purchase.
When buying your next home, do
your homework. First, make a
commitment to act when you find
the right home. Next, make a list of
what you hope to accomplish with
the purchase. Include financial goals,
preferred locations, and architectural
styles.
Add specific amenities you hope to
find, i.e. a study, workshop room,
extra patio space. Finally, set a
deadline - a time by which you plan
to move into the new home.
When you've completed those steps,
share the information with the real
estate agent you choose. Only then
can the agent understand your
needs, identify homes that meet
those needs, and help make your
home buying dreams come true.
Eliminate the need for a crystal ball -
open up and share your dreams.
